January 4, 2021 - Obituary for Jackie Harden (My Sweet Sis-In-Law)
It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Jackie Morris Harden, 57, announces her passing after a brief illness. She passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at St. Joseph Candler Hospital after fighting a courageous battle with COVID-19.
Jackie has received her wings and is now our Angel in Heaven. She left this earth peacefully. She left so many with gaping holes in our hearts. She left us too soon. Her husband, Rick, and her two daughters, Corey and Meghan, had to say goodbye to their wife and mother.
Jackie was surrounded by her family during her brief battle with COVID, thanks to the wonders of technology and Facetime. Jackie's family, including her daughters, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews kept vigil with Rick last week. We are so thankful that Rick, Corey, and Meghan, along with her siblings, Millie, Tammy, and Chris were afforded the opportunity to see her in person on her last night on this earth. It meant the world for them to hold her and tell her how much they loved her in person. We know that Jackie felt their love and embrace.
Rick was in the hospital by her side holding her hand when she took her last breath. Her family had the privilege to "be" with her remotely. She heard the voices of her loved ones before she left us, that we are all certain.
First and foremost, Jackie was a dedicated wife and mother. She treasured her daughters and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana to her beloved grandchildren. She loved her entire family fiercely without abandon.
Jackie was full of life with a vibrant personality and a knack for always making people laugh. She made life-long friends everywhere she went and never hesitated to help those in need. She was giving and selfless, always putting other’s before herself. She never hesitated to take care of people. And as she joyfully skipped through life, her love for music was never far behind. She was always humming or singing an uplifting song.
Sadly, Jackie’s life was too short, and those who were touched by her understood the privilege of knowing and being loved by her. She will always remain in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
She was born in Lyons, Ga to the late Alma E. Morris and Harlan H. Morris. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Christine E. Morris, Linda Morris Newsome, and Hilton H. Morris. Jackie was raised in Savannah, GA. And recently retired from the Savannah Morning News after having a 37 year long fulfilling career.
Jackie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 36 years, Rick Harden, her daughters Corey Postell (Aaron) of Jasper, GA., Meghan Harden of Portland, OR.; grandchildren, Gavin, Riley, Camryn, and Bri. In addition, she will be lovingly remembered by her siblings: Diane Heath (Wallace), Millie Mosley (Garry), Tommy Morris (Debbie), Tammy Caldwell (Chip), Chris Morris (Andrea), and her sister-in-law, Renee Kranking (Jamie). Jackie will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in the chapel of the funeral home. The funeral to honor her life will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in the chapel of the funeral home. All CDC and social distancing guidelines will be in place and masks will be mandatory. Burial will follow at Greenwich Cemetery.
